Supporting a new pipe manufacturing process for a 90-year old company.
Ruby has a longstanding relationship with MST, a manufacturer of seamless tubes and pipes, having provided services to the 90-year old company for over 30 years.
Constantly evolving with adaptive technologies, the company had purchased large German equipment for an exciting new pilger process for pipe manufacturing, but had no place to put it. Working with construction company Rudolph/Libbe, Ruby’s engineers designed an 18,000 SF addition to MST’s 340,000+ square foot plant to accommodate an overhead crane and the large equipment that would support the new pilger mill. Ruby’s team developed a plan that would remove 58 foot pieces of tube as well as building columns to accommodate the equipment.
Ruby’s use of Tekla software helped the team interpret the 2D drawings from the German company supplying the massive equipment. Considering challenging equipment foundations related to thickness and sizing, the Tekla model helped the team – particularly MST – to visualize the building enclosure upon completion, and made the team confident in its design and construction plan.
